AHOY

Pull once more fools, pull once more!

Dear New York Citizens,

As the weather cools down, do not expect to hear much from the NYCSP. When it heats up again we will be back in action...perhaps we will have some indoor performances or something....

Above is a picture from Bread and Puppet. I was there this summer and it rocked. Soon I will post more pictures. I have been away from the cyberworld but now I am here.

PEACE
Drew

JUNE FGP SUBMISSIONS SPARK LIFE!

AHOY!

The New York City Street Players are coming out of hibernation. Sleep during the winter and play during the hot. Rain works too.

This summer's adventure with the idea originally known as the NYCSP will be brought to you through another avatar: The Centrifuge.

Because I am going away to Bread and Puppet in the middle of it, I am not interested in repeating a similar rehearsal process to last year's event. I think this year I'll focus my street performance energies into one big event. There will be an adventurous event with a large enthusiastic audience at our fingertips on June 5th. Won't you join me?

To hear more about it and to submit an original idea, check here: Outdoor Fresh Ground Pepper

An idea I already have is basically getting anybody who wants to to be the street players that accompany the audience around, but we will be like Centrifuge staff to make sure nothing goes wrong and have similar costumes and wave flags.

More soon. E-mail me bitches!

This whole thing sounds wonderful and tempting to me.

I love to laugh! Pass the fizzy-lifting-drink!

UNTIL TONIGHT!

The Passions of Amoroso has come to an end. It has been an experiment. It has only been one step on a long path. It was a step up.

Things I learned:

The path is longer than I thought.
Vocals are mostly useless outdoors. Actions speak louder.
Stillness is valuable and focus-in-able.
Banana peels actually are extremely slippery!
Bethesda Terrace rocks.
Police don't care about this kind of stuff at all.
There is a high degree of competition for street performance space in NYC.
Commedia costumes are expensive. Actions speak louder.
Stage managers are glorious.
MUSIC MAKES THE PEOPLE COME TOGETHER.
plus more more more...

Remember: THE SHOW IS ALWAYS HAPPENING. IT NEVER STARTED AND IT NEVER ENDS. ("Life flows on within you and without you." - George Harrison)

"If civilization is the exploiter, the masses is nature. and the party is the poets." - Gary Snyder (from Revolution in the Revolution in the Revolution)

Thanks for everything this summer. Thanks for loving.

PEACE,
Drew
